Happy Belated "Official" 4 Month Birthday!

Opps... I forgot to post pictures of Whitaker on his offical 4 month birthday (1/21). Between navigating boxes and setting up 'home', i forgot. Maybe by the time he is 6 months I'll have my act together and get 'professional' photos taken.

Until then, here are some snap shots from the day:

mean cold: January Update

...is exactly what it is. the kind of cold that hurts. Where 5 minutes outside, is 5 minutes to long. So, stop your groanin' southern's with 32 degree weather. Those of us who suffer from living north of the mason dixon are just hoping to keep the temperature in the positive digits.

Joel has W for the afternoon and has taken him over to a friends to talk 'surround sound'. I'm pretty sure the fact that Joel could set up his surround sound system has been the highlight of our move up north so far. I have to say, not worrying about apartment neighbors- or apartments in general is soooo nice.

Constant motion is what Whitaker is all about. The kid can't sit still. He even has been trying to sit-up and nurse at the same time. (um, no!). As big as the kid has gotten, according to Whitaker food is just something I make him eat to get through the next 4 hours without fussing. Whitaker has this look on his face of 'i've got better things to be doing' when he nurses. Praise the Lord he is still sleeping through the night. 11:00 pm is the witching hour and thankfully he passes out around 11:30 pm and wakes up around 9:00 am. (don't kill me, i know i'm one lucky mama!)

We've entered the stage of constant teething. Bama (grama v.) found Whits first tooth last Monday and since then a second one next to it is starting to break through as well. It's his lower front. I finally had pick up some bibs to catch all the drool. Grammy (grama s.) bought him a t-shirt around halloween that has 'Ghoul Drool' on it- I'm gonna have to pull it out cause that is exactly what it is. Wet, Wet, Wet all the time. Joel told Whitaker the other day that he's not going to be able to go outside less his clothes freeze to his body.

Here are some pictures from the last 2 weeks...

friends are friends forever...

Sylvia and I took the munchkins to downtown Annapolis so Whitaker and I could say farwell...
Whitaker (09/21) and Charlie Ann (11/21) are exactly 2 months apart. It was amazing to see them side by side, Charlie literally is sitting on Whitaker's lap!
We'll miss Sylvia and little 'c' and we promise to come back and visit!

hitchin' up the wagons...

...and heading west.

Some folks may already know, but Joel and I made the decision to move Joel's goal of getting his Business Degree in Finance up to the front of our priority list and will be moving to Ohio on Monday. He will be attending Kent State University and classes begin on the 19th. Both of our parents have been generously supportive and we will actually be moving into my parents finished basement. They live only 3 miles from the main campus. The goal is for both of us to get part-time jobs and juggle taking care of Whit between the two of us, though Papa and Bama have already expressed their willingness to watch Whitaker whenever possible.

This past fall Joel took three classes at a local community college and though he got great grades, we knew that between our cramped apartment, his 10-12 hour work days, and Whitaker, it wasn't a schedule we could keep up. Though Joel has been contemplating a career change for quite a while, it really wasn't until the last two months that we fell to our knees together seeking out the Lord's will for our lives, more specifically Joel's career. As a young couple, yes we already made several huge decisions together- but this one was different and there was far more sacrifice involved. Yet, it was awesome to see the Lord work in Joel's heart impressing upon him the confidence and peace to go forward with quitting his job and stepping out on faith to pursue his education and trusting that the He will take care of the rest. We may only have begun the new adventure, but so far that's been the best part!

To say good-bye Maryland, Joel, Whitaker and I spent some time in Baltimore and D.C. over the weekend. There is soo much to see and we feel guilty we didn't have time to discover more. They both have so much to offer- it just means that we will definitely be back to visit!

So that catches us up to today... our apartment is crammed with boxes as I slowly have been packing one by one between Whitaker's naps and when Joel gets home from work and can take over baby duty.
Of course the whole thought process of planning the move, let alone imagining what's in store over the next several months hasn't been easy. Total 1st time mom- I idiotically scheduled Whit's 4 month appointment this week- in which the crankiness from the vaccines haven't helped the stress and chaos. I keep telling Whitaker that next week will be better... just hang on till next week until Papa and Bama can completely and utterly spoil him and hopefully making up for all the time he's been in the bouncy seat a safe distant from bubble wrap, tape gun, and cardboard.

Oh, speaking of Whit's four month appt...His current stats: 21.13 lbs. & 28.5 inches long. Of course he remains in the 99th percentile, with the exception of his head circumference- he's in the 60th. The kid is sooo long. Thank goodness I have long arms, or cradling him would almost be impossible.

Well, that all my brain has function to write for now...

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
