wow. what a weekend.
2 words, false labor. one of the doubts/fears that i had about pregnancy was being the village idiot that cried wolf. well- i shattered that one on friday. thankfully i have a gracious sister who can drop everything (including a hubby she hasn't seen all week and my adorable niece) to come down to.... GO SHOPPING!!! literally. instead of coming home with mr.whitaker, we came home with a stylish 'homecoming' outfit for me. the worst part of it all was the contractions on friday were NOTHING (in regards to pain and discomfort) in comparison to the other stints of false labor since then. so far monday mornings contractions hold the weekly record.
of course all of this has led to plenty of discomfort and frustration. NOTE: to all my pregger friends- do NOT make any major decisions when you are 9 months preggo- especially when it comes to getting your hair cut! i got my chopped, and if i thought i looked huge before i got the locks cut off- i now officially look like a macy's float with a short inverted bob. (at least that what my hormones are saying, but it's not THAT bad... hair grows)
joel was doing great- he was so supportive this past weekend, but then even he had to turn to the bottle. i know how out of control i feel - i can only imagine how out of control he feels right about now. you should see the disappointment written all over face when he comes home from work to see me cleaning another cranny of the apartment, obviously NOT in the throws of labor.
i don't know how healthy this is, but besides food becoming a consolation, i've turned to watching the 'baby lab' on the discovery health channel. it is a 30 minute show that follows 3-4 couples under going invitro. what a reminder of the true miracle of life. before it comes on i'm moaning and groaning about not knowing WHEN my baby will arrive all the while there are couples who are making a $20,000 gamble on a one time chance to even GET pregnant. drastic i know, but i can't help but be flooded with appreciation for my 'macy's day float' riding in front of me.
we'll keep you updated. i've decided that even after being admitted into the hospital, joel and i aren't gonna share the news that i'm in labor until my water breaks. i'm taking no chances.

with both my babies the midwife had to break the water when i was just about ready to push. here's hoping you get your chance soon!
